Prodigio - 30 dtd small sections
Memorizing - Debussy Reverie, Satie Gymnopedie 1
Run through rep up to 1st arabesque

Thumb is healing but hurts in a place I didn't cut it. ???

Thumb is healing.

Satie is being memorized. Weird chord progressions make for difficult memorization!

What do you do when you slice off the top of your thumb?

I almost made it an hour. It took quite a bit longer than normal when I have a finger injury for the pain to subside and me not feel like I was going into shock - probably about 20 minutes. Normally? Five minutes. I really wanted to play, though.

Trying to memorize Satie. The non-standard chord changes make it difficult.

And I am suspicious I have a cyst in my left thumb joint, which is probably why it hurts.

Saturday, March 11, 2017

For the first time in a month my hands hurt not because they feel like they're swollen, but because of normal muscle aches.

I need to have repertoire work days, instead of just playing through everything.

Played very gently (for me) to get back into playing. Rt wrist DeQuervain's is hurting. Left tennis elbow hurting.

Would like to analyze effectiveness of the 30 Days to Done courses I've used this year.

I picked up a book today and my left thumb joint was in immediate agony. It also hurt while playing, but I was playing really well, so ...?

30 DtD Chaconne. Got through 1st 2 pages.

Saturday, November 19, 2016

Steam-burned my thumb today. Awesome.

30 DtD Chaconne. Made notes on how I want dynamics to sound. Listening to myself practice is excruciating.

30 DtD Giga. Recorded my practice today. Hopefully not as excruciating to listen as above. It's choppy, but I can get my enthusiasm to come through in parts.

Repertoire day. I can play Tambourin once before it falls apart. Or so I think. I can pay attention to the first half of Prelude 4 and make a conscious effort to play, but the 2nd half becomes note reading.

Very brief 5 min practicing. Peeling cuticles are actually too painful to allow practicing! ugh.

I cut my L index finger with the vegetable peeler today. Practicing was excruciating, luckily it was a short review day.

's for everything.

Goals:
Eat all the strawberries. Done.
Oh right, harp stuff.
Scale mechanics week 1 (thru Thurs)
I smacked my left elbow pretty dang hard at work, so I'm just doing scales today. And it's really hot.
Read more of Sound in Motion as that doesn't require too much motion.
Plan re-recording based on previous times recorded* to learn pieces.
Look for Bear McCreary sheet music.

Achieved:

Scale mechanics with varying rhythms. Right thumb is fine today. Lt hand, not so much, but not surprising.
The previous times I recorded were not helpful because I didn't actually put dates on them. I may try "30 days to done" (ack! which seems to be gone), OH! or the brand new "Music Repertoire Builder Challenge"!!! Or look through the Kaleidoscope practice at the sample charts.
Maybe read Sound in Motion later tonight.
Printed out sample sheet. Looks like just BSG book exists. Ordered from Amazon in a heat-induced delirium, canceled order the next day, ordered through ILL. If it works for the harp, then I will order it.

* or noted, both bad puns, but accurate.

Two versions of Italian Pavane

I may or may not be learning this.  However, it turns out it's perfect for if you've sprained your right ankle as most of the accidentals are B, C, and D.

Hand started to go numb while playing, so put off until later.

Meeting with GA to go over album artwork. Eep!

Thursday, March 26, 2015

Slept on my arm funny and made my elbow worse. Did play a little bit and Pavane is much better than last time. Just a few chords here and there that need work.  Then to practice record, then record for real.

Monday, March 23, 2015

My hand started bothering me both in Pavane and Folk Song. So I switched to Arabesque #1, but got fatigued. I did get in a good solid hour of playing, and Pavane is halfway done, and Folk Song is close to halfway, so it's not going too badly.

Saturday, March 21, 2015

Another few measures of Pavane and Folk Song I. Feeling more hopeful since accomplishing that.

Sunday, March 15, 2015

Kind of came up with a new schedule, I think. It's a schedule without time constraints, only the order of things is set. I'm not sure that will work, but I'm not sure I can put a timetable on when I will be injury-free.

I'm working on the two shortest pieces first - Pavane and Chinese Folk Song I.  Hopefully, I will be able to do these relatively quickly and get them recorded. Then will progressively work through more and more challenging pieces.

Thought I had lost the list I made of things I can play, but just remembered I transcribed it here.

More play-throughs of repertoire.
Opuses 7, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, Fine, Tango, 20, 23, 21, 22, 26, 28 30, 37, 35
Possibly some things from Medieval to Modern.

My elbow is getting better, but very slowly.
